Common questions

Covering the whole family?
Check every doctor.

In 2026, 93 in 100 Seminole County Marketplace shoppers got a tax credit. Here are three common questions from Oviedo families.

“We just had a baby. Can we change plans?”

Yes, you may. Having a baby can let you sign up or change plans outside open enrollment. You usually have 60 days after the birth. Coverage can often start on the day the baby was born.

“Will my kids' doctor be in the plan?”

Not in every plan. Each plan picks its own doctors and hospitals. We look up each child's doctor in each plan before you choose.

“Is my hospital in the plan?”

In 2026, 153 of Seminole County's 215 Marketplace plans were HMOs. An HMO usually pays only for doctors and hospitals in its network, except in an emergency.

Oviedo health insurance questions.

Which companies offered Marketplace plans in Seminole County for 2026?

Seminole County plans for 2026 came from 10 companies: Ambetter Health, AmeriHealth Caritas Next, AvMed, Cigna Healthcare, Florida Blue, Florida Health Care Plans, Molina Healthcare, Oscar, UnitedHealthcare, and Wellpoint. The 2027 list should be posted around November 1, 2026, when open enrollment starts.

We are having a baby. When can we add the baby to our plan?

Having a baby can qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period. You usually have 60 days after the birth to add the baby or change plans. Coverage can often start on the day the baby was born. Tell us the date, and we help you with the steps.

Can my children be on the same plan as me?

Usually, yes. You can apply for your whole household on one application. Children can often stay on a parent's plan until they turn 26. Some children may qualify for Medicaid or Florida KidCare instead, based on household income.

Is HCA Florida Oviedo Medical Center in every plan?

Don't assume it is. Each plan picks its own hospitals and doctors, and most Seminole County plans are HMOs. Look up the hospital in each plan's directory before you enroll.

Can I get a PPO in Seminole County?

Some. Of Seminole County's 215 Marketplace plans for 2026, 14 were PPOs. Another 27 were EPOs and 21 were POS plans. Each type has its own rules for doctors outside the network. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.

When is open enrollment for 2027 coverage?

As of October 10, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage. Our Florida open enrollment guide has the details.
