Family hugging in the kitchen doorway of their home

For parents, partners & growing families

Life insurance
for families.

Coverage built around the people at your table. We help parents figure out how much, for how long, and on whom.

Where families start

Little feet,
big promises.

Families usually reach out at one of these moments:

We are having a baby.

A new child adds 18 or more years of costs. Many parents set up or add coverage before the due date, when it is on their minds.

One of us stays home.

A stay-at-home parent does work that would cost money to replace, like child care and driving. That work can be insured too.

Our coverage is only through work.

Group coverage at work may be a small amount and may end when the job ends. A personal policy stays with you.

Questions to answer
as a couple.

These help you choose an amount and a term length.

  • How many years until your youngest child is grown?
  • What would child care cost if one parent were gone?
  • Would you want the mortgage paid off?
  • Do you want to help with college?
  • Who would you name as guardian, and should the money go to a trust? An attorney can help with that part.

How we help

Both parents, one plan.

We look at both parents together, whether one earns most of the income or you split it. Then we compare term lengths and amounts so coverage lasts until the kids are on their own.

Need health coverage for the family too? See our guide to family health insurance.

Three steps

Family life insurance, step by step.

Count the years

From now until your youngest is grown, or your mortgage is paid.

Cover each parent

Including a parent who stays home.

Apply

Each parent is reviewed by the insurance company, which decides on approval.

What we believe

Enough, not everything.

The goal is a policy you can keep paying for as long as your family needs it.

  • We do not promise approval or a price.
  • We do not push whole life when term covers the need.
  • We explain child policies and riders without hype.

Handy for the call

Five quick notes.

  • Ages of everyone in the house
  • Mortgage balance and years left
  • Coverage you each have at work
  • Rough yearly child care cost
  • Health history for each parent

Questions

Family life insurance FAQ.

As of October 13, 2026.

How much life insurance do new parents need?

There is no single number. Many parents add up income for the years until the youngest is grown, plus the mortgage and other debts, then subtract savings and existing coverage.

Should a stay-at-home parent have life insurance?

Many families choose to. A stay-at-home parent does child care, cooking, and driving that would cost money to replace. Approval and amounts depend on the insurance company.

Should I buy life insurance for my child?

Some parents do, often as a small policy or a rider on a parent's policy. Most families first make sure the parents are covered, since the parents are the ones the family depends on.

Is life insurance through work enough?

Often it is not enough on its own. Work coverage is usually a set amount and may end if you leave the job.

Who should we name as beneficiary if our kids are young?

Minor children usually can't receive the money directly. Many parents name a spouse or a trust. Talk with your CPA or attorney about the right setup.

Can we apply before the baby arrives?

Yes. You can apply during pregnancy. The insurance company decides on approval and may ask about the pregnancy.
