Common questions
In 2026, 94 in 100 Palm Beach County Marketplace shoppers got a tax credit. Here are three common questions for people who live in Riviera Beach.
You can buy your own Marketplace plan. If your job does not offer a plan, you may get a tax credit based on your household income for the year you are covered. We check what help you may get.
Not always. A low monthly price often comes with a high deductible. If you rarely see a doctor, that may be fine. If you take a medicine or see a doctor often, a Silver plan may cost less over the year. We add it up both ways.
In 2026, 142 of Palm Beach County's 195 Marketplace plans were HMOs. An HMO usually pays only for doctors and hospitals in its network, except in an emergency.

What you get
If you choose by monthly price alone, a high deductible can surprise you later. A doctor who is not in your plan can too. What you get from the call:
Each Palm Beach County plan has its own network. Look up the hospital you would use in each plan before you sign up.
This is not a list of in-network hospitals for any plan. Networks can change each year.
Straight answers
Palm Beach County plans for 2026 came from 9 companies: Ambetter Health, AmeriHealth Caritas Next, AvMed, Cigna Healthcare, Florida Blue, Molina Healthcare, Oscar, UnitedHealthcare, and Wellpoint. The 2027 list should be posted around November 1, 2026, when open enrollment starts.
Bronze plans usually have a lower monthly price and a higher deductible. Silver plans cost more each month. But they often pay more when you get care. If your income is low enough, a Silver plan may also come with a lower deductible and copays. Our bronze vs. silver guide explains more.
As of October 12, 2026, Florida has not expanded Medicaid. Some adults with income below the poverty level do not qualify for Medicaid or for a tax credit. It is still worth applying, because children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities may qualify. Community health centers also charge based on what you can pay.
Don't assume it is. Each plan picks its own hospitals and doctors, and most Palm Beach County plans are HMOs. Look up the hospital in each plan's directory before you enroll.
Some. Of Palm Beach County's 195 Marketplace plans for 2026, 14 were PPOs. Another 29 were EPOs and 10 were POS plans. Each type has its own rules for doctors outside the network. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.
As of October 12, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage.
