Common questions

A growing city
still leaves gaps.

About 16 in 100 people under 65 in Palm Beach County had no health insurance in 2024. That is higher than the Florida rate. Here are three common questions for people who live in West Palm Beach.

“I just moved to West Palm Beach. Can I sign up now?”

Moving to a new ZIP code or county may let you sign up outside open enrollment. You usually have 60 days after the move. Some moves have extra rules, so we check with you.

“Will my tax credit be the same as last year?”

Maybe not. As of October 4, 2026, under current law, the extra help some people got in past years ended after 2025, and Congress has not brought it back. If your income is over 400% of the poverty level, you generally can't get a tax credit. Near that level, your credit may be small.

“Is my hospital in the plan?”

In 2026, 142 of Palm Beach County's 195 Marketplace plans were HMOs. An HMO usually pays only for doctors and hospitals in its network, except in an emergency.

Which companies offered Marketplace plans in Palm Beach County for 2026?

Palm Beach County plans for 2026 came from 9 companies: Ambetter Health, AmeriHealth Caritas Next, AvMed, Cigna Healthcare, Florida Blue, Molina Healthcare, Oscar, UnitedHealthcare, and Wellpoint. The 2027 list should be posted around November 1, 2026, when open enrollment starts.

I just moved to West Palm Beach. Can I get coverage now?

You may. Moving to a new ZIP code or county can qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period. You usually have 60 days from the move to pick a plan. Some moves have extra rules, so ask us to check your situation.

Is Good Samaritan Medical Center in every plan?

Don't assume it is. Each plan picks its own hospitals and doctors, and most Palm Beach County plans are HMOs. Look up the hospital in each plan's directory before you enroll.

Can I get a PPO in Palm Beach County?

A few. Of Palm Beach County's 195 Marketplace plans for 2026, 14 were PPOs. Another 29 were EPOs and 10 were POS plans, and each type treats out-of-network doctors differently. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.

What if my income is very low?

As of October 4, 2026, Florida has not expanded Medicaid. Some adults with income below the poverty level do not qualify for Medicaid or for a tax credit. It is still worth applying, because children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities may qualify. Community health centers also charge based on what you can pay.

When is open enrollment for 2027 coverage?

As of October 4, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage. Our Florida open enrollment guide has the details.
