Common questions
About 1 in 5 Duval County shoppers in 2026 were new to the Marketplace. Here are three common questions for people who live in Jacksonville.
Moving to a new ZIP code or county may let you sign up outside open enrollment. You usually have 60 days after the move. Some moves have extra rules, so we check with you.
Your county decides your plan list. Some Jacksonville ZIP codes, like 32224 and 32234, reach into nearby counties. So we start with your full home address.
In 2026, 99 of Duval County's 142 Marketplace plans were HMOs. An HMO usually pays only for doctors and hospitals in its network, except in an emergency.

How we help
Daniels Health Advisors is an independent brokerage, so we are not tied to one insurance company. First we confirm your county. Then we line up the plans you can buy and check your doctors, your hospital, and the cost for a full year.
How it works
Share your home address in Jacksonville and everyone's age.
Give us your best guess of next year's household income. We use it to estimate your tax credit.
We search each plan for your doctors, hospital, and medicines. The final pick is yours.

What you get
If you are new to the Marketplace, it is easy to miss a step. You might shop with the wrong county, or skip the doctor check and pay more for care than you planned. Our call ends with these four things done:
Jacksonville has several large hospitals, and plans do not all include the same ones. Check each one in the plan's own directory before you enroll.
This is not a list of in-network hospitals for any plan. Networks can change each year.
Straight answers
Duval County plans for 2026 came from 5 companies: Ambetter Health, AvMed, Florida Blue, Molina Healthcare, and Oscar. The 2027 list should be posted around November 1, 2026, when open enrollment starts.
Check your property tax bill or voter card, or ask us. Some Jacksonville ZIP codes cross into nearby counties, so the ZIP code alone may not tell you. We confirm your county before we compare plans.
You may. Moving to a new ZIP code or county can qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period. You usually have 60 days from the move to pick a plan. Some moves have extra rules, so ask us to check your situation.
Some 2026 Duval County Marketplace plans were not HMOs: 14 were PPOs, 19 were EPOs, and 10 were POS plans. Each type has its own rules for doctors outside the network. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.
As of October 3, 2026, Florida has not expanded Medicaid. Some adults with income below the poverty level do not qualify for Medicaid or for a tax credit. It is still worth applying, because children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities may qualify. Community health centers also charge based on what you can pay.
As of October 3, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage. Our Florida open enrollment guide has the details.
