Common questions
In 2026, more than half of Lee County Marketplace shoppers picked a Bronze plan. Here are three common questions for people who live in Fort Myers.
It depends on how much care you use. Bronze plans often have lower monthly prices but higher deductibles. If you see doctors often, a Silver or Gold plan may cost less over the full year. We add it up both ways.
A Marketplace plan is often the first thing to check. Your tax credit uses the income you expect for the year you are covered, not what you earned while working. Pensions and IRA withdrawals can count, so we help you add them up.
In 2026, 85 of Lee County's 132 Marketplace plans were HMOs. An HMO usually pays only for doctors and hospitals in its network, except in an emergency.

How we help
Daniels Health Advisors is an independent brokerage, so we are not tied to one insurance company. We pull up every Lee County plan you can buy, from Bronze to Platinum. Then we check your doctors, the hospital you would use, and what each plan may cost over a full year.
How it works
Tell us everyone's age and your home ZIP code in Fort Myers or Lee County.
We add up the income you expect next year, like pay, business income, or retirement withdrawals. That number sets your tax credit.
We look at the premium, deductible, and copays, and check your doctors in each plan. You choose the one that fits.

What you get
If you choose by monthly price alone, a high deductible can surprise you later. So can a doctor who is not in your plan. Here is what you leave with:
Whether a plan pays for care at a Lee County hospital depends on its network. Before you pick a plan, search its directory for the hospital you want.
This is not a list of in-network hospitals for any plan. Networks can change each year.
Straight answers
Lee County plans for 2026 came from 5 companies: Ambetter Health, AvMed, Florida Blue, UnitedHealthcare, and Wellpoint. Lee County's 2027 list may change. It should be out around November 1, 2026.
Bronze plans usually have a lower monthly price and a higher deductible. Silver plans cost more each month but often pay more when you get care. If your income is low enough, a Silver plan may also come with a lower deductible and copays. Our bronze vs. silver guide explains more.
It depends mostly on your household income for the year. Apply with your best honest estimate, including any pension or retirement withdrawals. If your income changes during the year, update your application quickly, so you are less likely to owe money at tax time.
Don't assume it is. Each plan sets its own network, and most Lee County plans are HMOs. Search for the hospital in the plan's directory before you enroll. We can search with you.
A few. Of Lee County's 132 Marketplace plans for 2026, 14 were PPOs. Another 19 were EPOs and 14 were POS plans, and each type treats out-of-network doctors differently. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.
As of October 3, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage. Our Florida open enrollment guide has the details.
