Common questions

More people shop here
than in any other HealthCare.gov county.

In 2026, over 1 million people in Miami-Dade County picked a Marketplace plan. That is more than in any other county that uses HealthCare.gov. Here are three common questions for people who live in Miami.

“There are so many plans. Where do I start?”

Start with your doctors. In 2026, Miami-Dade County had 189 Marketplace plans from 9 companies. We first keep only the plans that include the doctors and hospital you use. Then we compare cost.

“Is my hospital in the plan?”

In 2026, 138 of Miami-Dade County's 189 Marketplace plans were HMOs. An HMO usually pays only for doctors and hospitals in its network, except in an emergency.

“Will my tax credit be the same as last year?”

Maybe not. As of October 3, 2026, under current law, the extra help some people got in past years ended after 2025, and Congress has not brought it back. If your income is over 400% of the poverty level, you generally can't get a tax credit. Near that level, your credit may be small.

What you get

A long list,
made clear.

If you pick from 189 plans by monthly price alone, you may miss what matters most. Your doctor might not be in the plan, or the deductible may be more than you expected. Here is what you take away from our call:

  • Your doctors and hospital looked up in each plan you are thinking about
  • A tax credit estimate you understand, and a plan to update it if your income changes
  • Monthly price, deductible, and copays for each plan in one view
  • A plan chosen by December 15, 2026 (the deadline under current law), so coverage can begin January 1, 2027, after the first premium is paid

Hospitals in Miami

Hospital networks change from one Miami-Dade County plan to the next. Search each plan's directory for the ones you use before you choose.

  • Jackson Memorial HospitalMiami
  • Baptist Hospital of MiamiMiami (Kendall area)
  • Nicklaus Children's HospitalMiami

This is not a list of in-network hospitals for any plan. Networks can change each year.

Straight answers

Miami health insurance questions.

Which companies offered Marketplace plans in Miami-Dade County for 2026?

Miami-Dade County plans for 2026 came from 9 companies: Ambetter Health, AmeriHealth Caritas Next, AvMed, Cigna Healthcare, Florida Blue, Molina Healthcare, Oscar, UnitedHealthcare, and Wellpoint. The 2027 list should be posted around November 1, 2026, when open enrollment starts.

Is Jackson Memorial Hospital in every plan?

Don't assume it is. Each plan sets its own network, and most Miami-Dade County plans are HMOs. Search for the hospital in each plan's directory before you enroll. We can search with you.

Can I get a PPO in Miami-Dade County?

A few. Of Miami-Dade County's 189 Marketplace plans for 2026, 14 were PPOs. Another 27 were EPOs and 10 were POS plans, and each type treats out-of-network doctors differently. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.

My income changes from month to month. What should I put on my application?

Use your best honest guess for the whole year. If your income goes up or down during the year, update your application quickly. That helps keep your tax credit closer to right, so you are less likely to owe money at tax time.

What if my income is very low?

As of October 3, 2026, Florida has not expanded Medicaid. Some adults with income below the poverty level do not qualify for Medicaid or for a tax credit. It is still worth applying, because children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities may qualify. Community health centers also charge based on what you can pay.

When is open enrollment for 2027 coverage?

As of October 3, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage. Our Florida open enrollment guide has the details.

Open enrollment starts November 1
