Common questions
Nearly 1 in 7 people who picked a 2026 Orange County Marketplace plan were ages 55 to 64. Here are three things Winter Park residents ask us before they leave a job.
Money already in a bank account usually isn't counted as income. A pension is, and so is most money you pull from an IRA or 401(k). We help you estimate what you will take out for the year the plan covers.
It may. The credit is based on your household income for the coverage year. As of October 13, 2026, under current law, the extra help from earlier years ended after 2025. Above 400% of the poverty level, there is generally no credit.
Check before you pick. In 2026, 157 of the 208 Marketplace plans in Orange County were HMOs. An HMO usually won't pay for doctors outside its network, except in an emergency.

How we help
We are not tied to any one insurer. We list the Orange County plans in your ZIP code and help you plan income for the year ahead, counting pensions and retirement withdrawals. Then we check your doctors and specialists in each plan and add up the cost for twelve months.
How it works
Tell us when your work coverage ends, plus everyone's age and your Winter Park ZIP code.
We add up pensions, withdrawals, and any part-time pay to estimate your credit.
We search each plan for your doctors, specialists, and medicines. You make the final call.

What you get
Take out more from retirement accounts than you planned, and some of your credit may have to be paid back. Let your job plan lapse without a new one ready, and you could go uncovered. After our call, you get:

Orange County's 2026 Marketplace plans came from ten insurers: Ambetter Health, AmeriHealth Caritas Next, AvMed, Cigna Healthcare, Florida Blue, Health First, Molina Healthcare, Oscar, UnitedHealthcare, and Wellpoint. The 2027 roster should be posted around November 1, 2026, when open enrollment starts.
Usually, yes. Most traditional IRA and 401(k) withdrawals count toward the household income used for your tax credit. Roth withdrawals often do not. Pensions count too. A tax professional can confirm how your own accounts are treated.
Run the numbers on both. With COBRA, the same work plan continues for a limited time, and you generally pay its whole premium yourself, sometimes with a small fee on top. A Marketplace plan could carry a tax credit once your paycheck stops. Line up the doctors and the twelve-month total side by side. Decide within 60 days of losing your job plan: if you pick COBRA and later drop it on your own outside open enrollment, that usually does not open a new sign-up window. Our COBRA alternatives page has more.
Not all of them. Each plan picks its own hospitals, and HMOs were most of the county's 2026 plans. Look the hospital up in each plan's provider list before you enroll.
Yes, but few. Orange County's 2026 Marketplace lineup counted 14 PPOs next to 27 EPOs and 10 POS plans, out of 208 total. How each one treats doctors outside its network differs. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.
As of October 13, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage. Our Florida open enrollment guide has the details.
