You're leaving a job, retiring early, or losing job coverage, and you want to know your choices.
COBRA lets you keep your job plan for a while, but you may pay the full price plus up to 2%. We compare COBRA, Marketplace plans, and private PPO plans side by side. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.
Some private plans use PPO networks in many states. Plans are sold state by state, so a move may mean a new plan. Look up your doctors before you choose.
We're an independent brokerage. We don't work for one insurance company. No plan promises any doctor, and we explain each choice clearly.
Federal COBRA covers employers with 20 or more workers. You have at least 60 days to choose it. It can cost up to 102% of the full price, and it usually lasts up to 18 months. In Florida, a state law covers insured plans at employers with fewer than 20 workers. It can cost up to 115% of the full price.
You also have a Marketplace choice. Losing job coverage lets you pick a Marketplace plan from 60 days before to 60 days after it ends, and you may get a tax credit. If you take COBRA and later drop it on purpose, that does not open a new Marketplace window. When your COBRA runs out, it does.
