Common questions
In 2026, 97 in 100 Miami-Dade County Marketplace shoppers got a tax credit. Here are three common questions for people who live or work in Coral Gables.
Not always. A group plan is one choice. Some small employers help workers pay for their own plans instead. Each path has its own rules and costs. We walk you through both before you decide.
Maybe. If you buy your own Marketplace plan and you are not offered other affordable coverage, your tax credit depends on your household income for the year you are covered. For many owners, that is mostly the profit from the business. We help you estimate it.
In 2026, 138 of Miami-Dade County's 189 Marketplace plans were HMOs. An HMO usually pays only for doctors and hospitals in its network, except in an emergency.

How we help
Daniels Health Advisors is an independent brokerage, so we are not tied to one insurance company. With 9 companies selling plans here in 2026, there is a lot to sort. We pull up the Miami-Dade County plans you can buy. Then we check your doctors, the hospital you would use, and the total cost for the year.
How it works
Tell us who needs coverage, everyone's age, and your home ZIP code in Coral Gables or Miami-Dade County.
We add up the income you expect next year. If you own a business, use your profit after business costs. That number sets your tax credit.
We look up your doctors, hospital, and medicines in each plan. Then you make the choice.

Miami-Dade County plans for 2026 came from 9 companies: Ambetter Health, AmeriHealth Caritas Next, AvMed, Cigna Healthcare, Florida Blue, Molina Healthcare, Oscar, UnitedHealthcare, and Wellpoint. The 2027 list should be posted around November 1, 2026, when open enrollment starts.
Often, yes. A small group plan is one way. Some small employers instead help workers pay for their own plans. Each choice has rules about who can join and how much the business pays. Our small group page explains the choices.
Use your household income for the year you are covered. For most owners, that includes the profit from the business after business costs. Add other household income too. If it ends up higher or lower than you thought, update your application as soon as you can.
Don't assume it is. Each plan picks its own hospitals and doctors, and most Miami-Dade County plans are HMOs. Look up the hospital in each plan's directory before you enroll.
Some. Of Miami-Dade County's 189 Marketplace plans for 2026, 14 were PPOs. Another 27 were EPOs and 10 were POS plans. Each type has its own rules for doctors outside the network. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.
As of October 9, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage.
