Questions we hear

One job plan,
two different paths?

Rochester Hills has a median age of about 41, per the Census Bureau. Here is what couples ask.

“Can my spouse stay on my job plan if I leave?”

Usually no, once you leave the job. Your spouse may join a plan at their own job, or you can each look at marketplace plans.

“My buyout pays out over two years. How does that work?”

Payments count as income in the years you receive them. We place each payment in the right year when we estimate.

“We see different specialists. Can we choose different plans?”

Yes. Each person can be on a different marketplace plan. We check each person's doctors.

How we help

Help for couples
in Rochester Hills.

We work with several Michigan insurers, so we can compare plans for each person separately or together. We price the full year and show which setup costs less overall.

If one spouse keeps a job plan, we look at whether the family can join it and what that costs. Then we compare that number with marketplace plans for the people leaving.

Couples often find that one person's prescriptions drive the choice. We check each drug on each plan's list and note the tier, so the price at the pharmacy is clear.

If the spouse who keeps working has a high-deductible job plan, we look at whether adding the family makes sense or whether a separate plan costs less.

When one spouse leaves a job in the middle of the year, the household's income drops for the rest of it. We estimate the full calendar year, not only the months after.

Some couples choose two different plans: one built around a specialist, the other around a lower premium. We price the pair together.
