Questions we hear

Time to renew
your plan?

About 11 in 100 Nashville adults ages 19 to 64 had only a plan they bought on their own, the Census Bureau reports. People renewing here ask us these.

“Will my plan just roll over into 2027?”

It may. HealthCare.gov says that if you don't act by December 15, you may be signed up again for January 1. In some cases, you won't be. So it pays to check your account.

“My price for next year went up. Why?”

HealthCare.gov says plans and prices change every year. Your income or household may have changed too. Updating your application helps you get the right tax credit.

“My insurance company says my plan is going away. Now what?”

HealthCare.gov may match you with another plan. You can keep that match or choose a different plan during open enrollment.

How we help

Renewal help
in Nashville.

Bring your renewal letter or the name of your plan. We set it next to other Tennessee plans from more than one insurer, each with its monthly price after any tax credit.

A plan can change its doctor list and drug list for a new year. So we look up your doctors and drugs again before you decide to stay.

If someone in your home got a job with a plan this year, we look at whether that changes who should stay on your HealthCare.gov plan.

Nashville plans each use their own set of doctors and hospitals. Before you renew, we check the ones you see now.

Straight answers

Nashville health insurance questions.

When is 2027 open enrollment in Tennessee?

Tennessee uses HealthCare.gov. As of October 29, 2026, HealthCare.gov lists open enrollment for 2027 as November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates, City of Columbus v. Kennedy, is still in the courts. Check HealthCare.gov for the latest dates. Make your changes by December 15 for a plan that starts January 1. Changes made by January 15 start February 1.

Did Tennessee expand Medicaid?

No. As of October 29, 2026, KFF lists Tennessee as a state that has not adopted the ACA Medicaid expansion. Some adults and children may qualify for TennCare or CoverKids.

Can I switch plans during open enrollment?

Yes. Log in to HealthCare.gov, update your application, and choose a new plan. If you switch by December 15, the new plan can start January 1.

Can I move to a plan outside HealthCare.gov?

Yes. But HealthCare.gov says the only way to get a premium tax credit is to buy your plan through the Marketplace.

What happens if I do nothing?

You may be signed up again on your own, but your tax credit may not match your new income. HealthCare.gov says to update your application.

Is Nashville the same as Davidson County?

Mostly. The city and county share one metro government. A few small towns inside the county run their own.

What should I have for the call?

Your renewal letter, your Nashville ZIP code, your 2027 income estimate, and your doctors and drugs.

When will I see my 2027 price?

HealthCare.gov shows exact 2027 prices and any tax credit when you update your application. Open enrollment starts November 1.
