Questions we hear

New job,
new choices?

Half of Harrah residents are younger than about 33, the Census Bureau reports. People changing jobs here ask us these.

“My new job offers a plan. Can I keep my Marketplace plan?”

You can. But under current law, a job offer can end your tax credit, even if you don't take it. That happens if the plan meets the minimum value standard and is affordable: for 2027, your share for self-only coverage is under 10.22% of household income. HealthCare.gov explains this on its job-based coverage page.

“What do I do before I say yes to the job plan?”

HealthCare.gov says to update your Marketplace application first. It shows how the offer changes your tax credit, so you can compare both plans.

“I signed up for the job plan. Now what?”

End your Marketplace plan for everyone moving to the job plan. Under current law, you won't qualify for a tax credit once you're enrolled in a job-based plan, HealthCare.gov says.

Timing matters too. We help you set an end date for your Marketplace plan so there's no gap and no overlap you pay for twice.

If your new job plan has a waiting period, we look at keeping your Marketplace plan until the job plan starts.
