Common questions
Okaloosa County had only 3 insurance companies selling Marketplace plans for 2026. Here are three questions we hear from Crestview residents.
Yes, you may. When military health coverage ends, that loss can open a Special Enrollment Period. The window starts before your end date and runs for a while after it. Share the date with us early, so a new plan can begin the day the old one stops.
It depends on your household income for the year you are covered. As of October 13, 2026, under current law, the extra help from past years ended after 2025. Above 400% of the poverty level, there is generally no tax credit.
Look before you choose. Of Okaloosa County's 106 Marketplace plans for 2026, 59 were HMOs. Most HMOs pay only for care from doctors in their network, except in an emergency.

How we help
We are independent, so we can show plans from all three companies selling in Okaloosa County. We sort the plans open to your Crestview ZIP code, then look up your doctors and the hospital you use. Finally, we total what each plan may cost over twelve months.
How it works
Tell us each person's age, your ZIP code, and when other coverage ends.
We use an honest estimate of next year's household income to check for a tax credit.
We search each plan for your doctors, hospital, and prescriptions. You decide.

What you get
Miss the window after other coverage ends, and you may wait until open enrollment. Choose on price alone, and the deductible or the network can surprise you. After our call, you'll have:
North Okaloosa Medical Center is in Crestview, and HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital is south in Niceville. Plans in the county do not all use the same hospitals, so check each one.
This is not a list of in-network hospitals for any plan. Networks can change each year.
Straight answers
Ambetter Health, Florida Blue, and Oscar were the only companies selling 2026 Marketplace plans in Okaloosa County. The 2027 list should come out near November 1, 2026, when open enrollment begins.
Begin about two months before your service coverage stops. Its end is a life event that lets you enroll outside open enrollment, and you may apply before the last day. TRICARE counts as qualifying coverage, so while you are on it, including any transitional TRICARE after you leave, you can't get a tax credit. After it ends, any tax credit is based on what your household expects to earn in the year the new plan covers.
Possibly. A move to a new county or ZIP code may open a Special Enrollment Period, usually lasting 60 days. Some moves have extra rules, such as having had coverage before the move. We look at your dates with you.
Don't count on it. Each plan sets its own network, and 59 of the county's 106 plans for 2026 were HMOs. Search for the hospital in each plan's directory before you choose.
Some are. For 2026, Okaloosa County's 106 Marketplace plans included 14 PPOs, 19 EPOs, and 14 POS plans. Each type handles doctors outside the network differently. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.
As of October 13, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage. Our Florida open enrollment guide has the details.
