Common questions
More than 39,000 people who picked a 2026 Hillsborough County Marketplace plan were new to the Marketplace. Here is what newcomers in Apollo Beach tend to ask first.
Maybe not. A move to a new county or ZIP code can open a Special Enrollment Period, usually for 60 days after the move. You may need to show you had coverage before you moved, so ask us to check your dates.
A Marketplace plan may fill the gap, but only if you have a sign-up window, such as a recent move or lost coverage. Once a job plan that meets federal cost rules is open to you, you generally can't get a tax credit. We help you time it.
Check each plan first. HMOs were 130 of the 173 Marketplace plans in Hillsborough County for 2026, and an HMO usually pays only for in-network care unless it is an emergency.

How we help
We work for you, not for one insurer. Once you tell us where you live now, we pull every Hillsborough County plan open to your ZIP code. We then look for your doctors and the nearby hospitals in each one, and add up a full year of premiums, deductibles, and copays.
How it works
Share when you moved, where you lived before, and who needs coverage.
We use your best guess for the coming year to see if a tax credit may lower your monthly cost.
We check doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions in each plan. The choice stays with you.

What you get
Wait too long after a move, and you may have to sit out until open enrollment. Pick a plan without checking its network, and the clinic down the road may be left out. From our call, you get:
Two large hospitals are a short drive north, in Riverview and Brandon. Whether a plan uses them depends on its network, so search before you enroll.
This is not a list of in-network hospitals for any plan. Networks can change each year.

Seven insurers sold plans across Hillsborough County for 2026: Ambetter Health, AvMed, Florida Blue, Molina Healthcare, Oscar, UnitedHealthcare, and Wellpoint. Watch for the 2027 roster close to November 1, 2026, when open enrollment opens.
Often you don't. A permanent move to Florida can open a Special Enrollment Period, and you usually have 60 days from the move. In most cases, at least one person must have had qualifying coverage for at least one of the 60 days before the move. We check those rules with you.
If you lost job-based coverage, you usually have 60 days to pick a Marketplace plan. You may also be offered COBRA. Compare both on the full-year cost and on your doctors. Our lost job coverage page explains more.
Not necessarily. Networks are set plan by plan, and HMOs made up most of the county's 2026 plans. Use each plan's provider search to look for AdventHealth Riverview before you enroll.
A few are sold. Hillsborough County's 173 Marketplace plans for 2026 included 14 PPOs, 19 EPOs, and 10 POS plans. Out-of-network rules are not the same for each type. If your tax credit is small or zero, a private PPO plan may be another option to look at. Some private plans ask health questions, and approval is not guaranteed. Some may not cover care for health problems you had before you enrolled.
As of October 13, 2026, under current law, you can sign up from November 1, 2026, through January 15, 2027. A court case about these dates is still on appeal, so check HealthCare.gov. To start coverage January 1, pick a plan by December 15. Outside those dates, you usually need a life event, such as a move or losing other coverage. Our Florida open enrollment guide has the details.
